Lent is the period of the Christian year in which we follow Jesus’ journey to the cross. It is often marked as a period of penitence and reflection. There are a number of ways in which we can mark our journey through Lent this year.
Marking Lent at Trinity 2020
Ash Wednesday Communion Service
Wednesday 26 February 8.00 pm
The beginning of Lent is marked with a Service of Holy Communion in which those who attend will be marked with ashes on their forehead. This is a reflective service and those who attend usually find it an extremely meaningful service.
Lent Studies
Organised by Churches Together in Finchley, Putting God First is a five week study series exploring ways in which we can put God first in our daily lives.
The course begins on Sunday 1 March and continues for five weeks.
4.00 pm - 5.00 pm Sundays 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29 March
At Trinity Church
Over the years Christians have found that developing patterns, practices rhythms and ways of life can help us to put God first in our lives.
This series of five studies will enable us to reflect on Scripture together and share our different experiences of finding ways of keeping God at the centre of our lives.
Lent Lunches
Churches Together in Finchley also arrange Lent Lunches on Fridays during Lent. The lunches are from 12.30 to 1.45 pm. A simple lunch is served and those who attend are invited to contribute to a charity supported by Churches Together in Finchley.

Jars of Change
Once again we are inviting all at Trinity Church to support the Jars of Change appeal supporting WaterAid through Lent. This is a simple idea in which we ask members and friends to keep a jam jar at home and collect money for WaterAid during Lent.
This is what WaterAid says:
“Lent is a time for giving up small luxuries in life. But imagine if you had to give up more important things – education, employment or hope for the future. All because you do not have clean water close to home.
… through prayer (1 Mar)
… through fasting (8 Mar)
… through simplicity (15 Mar)
… through service (22 Mar)
… through celebration (29 Mar)
This is the reality for 1 in 9 people around the world. Hours spent collecting water, or days wasted from ill health, means children miss out on school and parents cannot work.
For children especially, clean water can be the difference between a full education and struggling to keep up in class. The difference between enjoying a happy childhood with friends, or risking your life on long walks for water.”
On Easter Sunday we will collect all of the money in and give the total to WaterAid.
