Our Prayer Chapel is available for private prayer whenever our buildings are open.
We try to keep the church free of all activities between 12.30 pm and 1.30 pm each day so that there is a period in the day when the Prayer Chapel will be relatively quiet.
Occasionally the Prayer Chapel is used for a midweek series of led prayers. These are publicised in the calendar.
The Prayer Chapel, in the east transept of the church, was originally created in memory of Betty Pilgrim. Betty Pilgrim was a member of the church and a leader of the Girl Guides who died tragically in a car accident in 1972.
Following the death of Betty Pilgrim’s husband, Basil, the Prayer Chapel was extensively refurbished in 2016 and a new illuminated stained glass panel was installed in memory of Basil. Basil Pilgrim served for many years as an elder of the church and a leader of the Scouts.
